Marco Ryan

Marco Ryan was born in the UK, but now lives in Singapore following the last 4 years living in Cairo, Egypt where he ran the Cairo Photo Studio, Cairo Photo Tours and worked as a freelance travel photographer. He has now re-entered corporate life as a Partner for Accenture in Singapore but continues to teach, freelance and enthuse about photography in every spare moment.

Marco’s passion is for travel reportage, especially recording the more humanitarian aspects of life. Marco has founded and runs Focus for Humanity – a Not For Profit foundation that provides grants and supports to Humanitarian photographers and NGOs.

His time based in Cairo has allowed an unparalleled and privileged view into the lives of ordinary Egyptians, although much of his work is in South East Asia and the USA. Now based in Singapore, he is taking a similar approach to immersing himself in the endless opportunities that South East Asia provides photographically.

With Karl Grobl, Marco helped to found and become a core faculty member of the Angkor Photo Workshops. He retains ownership of the Cairo Photo School – a franchise of the world famous Bangkok Photo School run by is friend, Gavin Gough.

Marco is an award winning photographer who has worked for corporations such as The Asia Foundation, Boyden International, Kempinski Hotels, Singapore Airlines, Elite Models and Pownall International. His work has been published in Silverkris (Singapore Airlines travel magazine), Digital Photographer, Cleo, Euphoria, Conde Nast Traveller as well as numerous travel magazines. He has exhibited in the UK, Egypt, USA and shortly, in Singapore.

He has recently published an eBook on how to select, prepare and get the most from photography workshops, available through this site. Called “Living the Dream”, it is a stunning 72 page guide full of fascinating tips, ideas and beautiful photographs taken by Marco during various workshops.

He is contactable through this blog for commissions or fine art prints of his work and for his travel photography workshops for Singapore based photographers.
