Marina Chen is an international award-winning photographer. Born in Taiwan and now a resident of the metropolitan Los Angeles area. Based on the understanding that all life is in a state of constant motion, she became increasingly interested in creating images that reflect this idea, images that a camera can capture but that can't be seen by the naked eye. After years of developing this unique style while also continuing to expand her technique in the areas of stills and portraiture, she was curious to see how the outside world would receive and judge her work. So in 2011, for the first time in her life, she submitted three of her series into a contest, the prestigious International Photography Awards competition. All of her three series won recognition, and in a number of categories. Her series entitled "Poetry of Motion," which was photographed at her daughter's ballet school in Arcadia, won 2nd Prize in the Moving Images category; her "Intimate Communications" series, which portrays the first bonding experiences a newborn has with his or her world, received Honorable Mention in both the Fine Art-Nude and Deeper Perspective categories; and her "Sculpted Melody" series, featuring the architectural details of Walt Disney Concert Hall, also received Honorable Mention in two categories: Architecture and Fine Art-abstract. Equally impressive, on June 8th of 2011, her photo of Bryce Canyon National Park was featured as "Photo of the Day" on Smithsonian Magazine's website. She continues winning multiple international awards in 2012.
