Mark Chandler

As a child in 1963 my family moved from Sacramento California up to Auburn, a small town in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada’s. The population was 5,000 with an elevation around 1,300 feet. Four way stop signs were abundant with few traffic lights. The dirt red, hills the norm as well as fields, forests and trails. The canyon paths leading to the American River were ever enticing.
Now a landscape photographer for over eight years I still love the outdoors and growing up in Auburn has definitely been a major factor. Although now I find myself in places like Yosemite National Park climbing up granite slabs and afterward walking back down the trail in the light of my headlamp. Climbing over rocks at low tide on the California coast, waiting for the fog to clear and that perfect sunset to appear. Artistic expression, laced with patience, tenacity and the excitement of chasing the light for that great shot are what drive me to continue to shoot with passion and joy. This is a great profession, artistic endeavor, it's a great way to spend time. ......I feel fortunate to call myself a photographer.
