Matt Smith

I am skilled and passionate behind the camera, in post-production and in design. Having completed a BSc in Biology at the University of Bath, I was then awarded a Merit for an MSc in Biological Photography and Imaging from Nottingham University. Since then I have been working with the NHS as a Media Specialist as well as a short Internship with Oyster Studios. My preference lies with nature photography, I have always loved the interactions between animals and their environment, but as I grew as a photography I began to appreciate a wider variety of photography, especially the work of people like Gregory Crewdson and food photography. I started on Nikon, using my first camera, which was a Nikon D40x, then moving to a D70, which I used in my year in Nottingham. Since then, I have converted to Canon, purely on the basis that they use a better codec for video, which is especially important in my work. I generally use Adobe Creative Suite, finding it suites most of my needs. The one exception to this is that I like Final Cut Pro, which I think is much more user friendly. On the other hand, Premiere works well with After Effects. I hope to one day become a Wildlife Cameraman with the BBC, or one of the companies they use for their documentaries.
