Beauty in death

I recently bought a macro lens for my new camera (Canon EFS 60mm Macro). I have been wanting a macro lens for so long! So I was walking around the garden looking for things to shoot. After shooting a range of the usual flowers and insects I realised how many dead flowers were on my rose bushes. Upon closer inspection through the macro lens they looked very strange and interesting. I snapped a few photos and was quite pleased with the results (below).

When it comes to photography we are so often focused on beauty that we miss some really unique and interesting opportunities. What do you think of my Garden of death series? Which one do you prefer and why? If nothing else its good to try something different every now and then whether it is successful or not.
