Marc Charette

My first venture into photography was with an Aires Range Finder which one of my older brothers lent me for a cross-Canada trip in my pre-teens.

All the photos I took back then were 35mm slide and provided me the ability to see my images big on the old Bell&Howell projector (it was my fathers and when he passed, it somehow made its way to me and I still have it).

Unfortunately a few short weeks after returning home from the west, the camera's shutter jammed and the whole lens system began to self implode. That put a stop to my venture into capturing light for a while.

I gave it another go in early high-school as part of the camera club and was assigned to shoot a football match between my high school,Franco Jeunesse and the rival MacDonald Cartier teams. Unfortunately, the results were a bit less than impressive. Out of two roles of 24, only 2 were usable. I must admit I had felt overwhelmed by what seemed at the time as 'complex' gear. So I set aside photography for many years and only picked it back up in 2001 when I bought a simple Canon point and shoot 35mm. That gave me the bug to get back into the hobby. From there I moved to digital and finally committed to the world of Canon with the ever-so-popular 7D in 2010. From there, I was hooked.

My preference is is to shood landscape and wild living things but every once in a while I dabble with other worlds, including product photography and candid people photos.

Probably the area I enjoy the most is macro or really close-up. Sometimes there's just as much story in the grooves of little things as the stories we can imagine on the larger planes.

Feel free to share your thoughts on my images. Critique is a great way to grow.
