A forensic engineer learning to see the world through a camera.
I have taken photographs for many years for work, but that tends to be a little one dimensional (documenting various catastrophies for evidentiary purposes) To be able to do my work I needed to understand the technical mechanics of how cameras work and how images are recorded, but it did not provide much insight into composition and lighting for aesthetic.
I am only just learning those aspects. It feels a little backwards, because in some areas of photography I know lots but in others I know little. Exploring the space between the two is my current adventure.
My father passed away quite young (about 20 years ago) but had been a photographer for a while in the 60's and later in the late 70's (semi-pro). Learning how to take better pictures allows me to connect with memories of my father who is slowly only becoming a dim memory as time passes.
