I just recently retired after 24 years in the USAF. I've left the military behind, moved "home" to Texas, and I'm waiting for life to slow down. I need something more "internal" than the hectic pace of the military, so I'm turning to photography.
I just returned to school, I'm in classes at Texas Tech University. My major is Studio Arts, with an emphasis in Photography (duh)
I enjoy being outdoors - that's when my spirit SOARS! I like photographing nature, wildlife, and landscapes; but I LOVE LOVE LOVE ghost towns and rural decay. I enjoy doing research on the places I shoot; it's fun to know who lived there, what they did, when it was built and to just understand what life was like back when. I don't consider myself a "history buff", but I tend to become obsessive with locations I explore. I did a couple of "Billy the Kid" trips, and learned a LOT about his life and the people/places around him (Pat Garrett wasn't the arrogant bad cop that I imagined before)
I recently relocated to Lubbock, and I'm looking for a photo buddy. If you're in the area, gimme a holler!
