I started my photographic journey very young, perhaps 10 or 12 years old, when I purchased an ancient and well used camera for 10 cents at a flea market. From the very beginning, photography was for me about exploring the aesthetics of my world, creating images that particularly interested or moved me rather than snapshots of friends and family.
For a long time I was fascinated with the life cycle of things, and in particular the latter part of the cycle when things wear out, are set aside, are lost, and return to the earth. I still enjoy aging subjects, but these days I am more interested in exploring shapes and textures wherever I find them rather than documenting the subject itself. There is something about finding beauty in things meant to be functional, or in stains, rust, scratches, etc. that delights me.
