Michael D. Skelton is just a guy living at the beach. I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and I lived there for my first 39 years. I loved growing up in East Point, Georgia and I developed a strong love of animals. I became interested in photography when I was a little kid as I was looking at my dad's slides. I always wanted a camera but the hobby had to wait until 1996 when the olympic games came to Atlanta. I borrowed my dad's Konica 35mm film camera and started taking photos of everything going on at that time. I then bought a Nikon F4 film camera and my passion appeared and took over. I wanted to take photos of everything. I took a couple classes at a local camera shop and tried to learn. I had fun and loved to use slide film.
I moved to Sarasota, Florida in 1999 and continued to photograph Florida until I dropped the F4 form my back seat to the floorboard in 2002. That bent the film door shut and I didn't want to pay for the repairs. In 2007 I received a Nikon D80 for a Christmas gift from my father and from then I have fallen back in love with photography. I bought a tripod, a D300S and a couple lenses and started photographing the birds that live nearby.
