My photography is a natural consequence of my love of the natural world and desire to share this love with the world.
I was fortunate enough to have parents that enjoyed being outdoors. Camping, hiking, fishing and hunting were regular activities in my life. It wasn’t until I was older that I realized how many of my peers had been robbed of this experience during their childhood. I am forever grateful for the foundation that was laid out for me.
My interest in photography was also sparked by my father. He took up photography as a hobby while on a year-long tour in Korea with the military. The separation was hard, but upon his return he shared this new found interest with me. I remember accompanying him to shoot, develop the film, and create prints. My first “real” camera came as a hand-me-down from him.
Over 30 years later, I still find excitement and peace while capturing images.
I believe that each of us has a deep seated and maybe even genetically based desire to bond with the natural world. My hope is that by sharing these images that I might ignite a spark within you. When I hear from people that they’ve planned a vacation to visit the locations that I shoot as a result of seeing my photos, a huge smile appears on my face.
Enjoy the photos. Life really is better outside and I hope that my gallery inspires you to go visit the natural beauty that we are missing in our day-to-day world.
