Yup, you read that logo right. I'm a very enthusiastic amateur photographer and I'm quite happy for it to stay that way. I have no ambitions of becoming a pro photographer. I have a day job that I enjoy and pays me well. But even though I enjoy my job, I still enjoy having an escape from the corporate world, and for me that is my photography.

My photographic interests are varied, from landscape to street to architecture to anything else I can point my camera at. I started with film, but have since completely switched to digital. Currently I am using a Canon EOS 5D Mark II and a Canon EOS 7D. Occasionally I will use a Canon EOS 10D which has been converted to infrared. Although I don't shoot film anymore, I still own one film camera, a Canon EOS 1n.

Since 2004, I've been a technical assistant, helping a local photographer with weekend photography workshops. More recently (since 2006), I've been an assistant for the same photographer and his business partner on photography tours in the United States and Mexico. I'm also a volunteer photographer for the Sound of Light Fireworks Competition in Gatineau, Québec.

"A snapshot invokes a memory of someone you know or met, a place you've been, an event you attended, or a pet that you've owned. The connection to the image is emotional and subjective. A snapshot, shown to a stranger, is ineffective, because the stranger doesn't have that memory or emotional connection to the image.

"A photograph stands on it's own. It doesn't rely on memories or emotional connections to portray itself. It has to portray its meaning on whoever views it, and it may very well say something different to everyone who views it." - Mike Alexander
