I started Photography in the late 70's when I bought my first SLR. This was an Olympus OM10 with two Tamron zoom lenses, a 28 to 50mm & a 80 to 210mm. After a year or so I set up a Darkroom in our spare bedroom and started to develop my own Black & White photos. In the mid 80's we moved to a two bedroom house and unfortunately I lost my Darkroom. Around this time I took an interest in Target Shooting, joined a local Shooting Club and in 1991 became Chairman of LCB Marksmen. I progressed in Pistol and Rifle shooting and became one of the top 10 shooters with Gallery Rifles in my class in the UK. My Photography consequently took a back seat.
In 2008 I sustained an accident at work and injured my shoulder, it was over 12 months before I underwent surgery to repair it, and close to that recovering from it, this meant I didn't shoot competitively for over two years.
When I did pick up a Rifle again I discovered that I couldn't hit the target as well as before and visited the Club less often.
During a clearout at home I came across my OM10 with a couple of rolls of film, I took it with me on a trip to a local beauty spot, fired off both rolls and was pleasantly suprised when I got them back from the developers.
Realising I still had the Photography bug and as my shooting was suffering I took the decision to sell one of my Rifles and bought a Nikon D3100 which rarely leaves my side. Shortly after, I invested in an 18-200mm Nikor Zoom lens and my most recent aquisition is a Sigma 10-20mm Wide Angle zoom.
My HDR Photography has been described by some as "Different and Vibrant" My Black & White as "Dark and Moody" My Landscape photos as "Beautiful and Stunning".
Whatever I'm photographing I enjoy the capture and the editing. I now use every chance I get to capture moments in time that would be lost forever, like tears in the rain.....
