Next Stop: Iceland

On my way now for my 3rd sojourn to the Land of the Midnight Sun. Heavily packed with Canon gear, I hope to find ample Northern Lights destinations. Blast from the cellulose past

I have been a photographer for most of my life. The largest body of my work is still stuck on small plastic slabs called film and I have been painstakingly going through my files and extracting some of my most interesting images to digitize. That process is "interesting" to say the least, working with a professional scanning company, getting the quality I want is challenging.

The last 15 images I display here on 500px are all from scanned film and then manipulated with LightRoom 3.0. As I spent some late nights on each image I marveled at what is possible now with software compared to what I struggled to accomplish in the darkroom. A few of these images were greatly enhanced in Light Room, more than I could have ever done in the dark.

Last trip to Iceland

Just 4 days. That's all I had. Brutal weather, mostly bad food and 8 times zones away from my last trip, but it was worth it. Wish I had more time, but it was productive. Just to get an idea of the brutal wind and rain, I ventured out to the beach in Vix. The ice fields, the huge cubes of ice strewn on the black beaches, all were amazing. I was blown away by the sheer beauty of this country.
