David F. Brown

Greetings. My name is David F. Brown and I live near Gettysburg, Pennsylvania. Photography has been a life long passion extending back to the day my father gave me an old, beat-up, Twin Lens Reflex camera. It was covered with electrical tape to keep out the light leaks. I learned how to develop film and print black and white images in the family bathroom. No easy feat when you have to share the room with three other family members including a teenage sister. I somehow survived. I purchased my first SLR in 1972, a Canon FTB-QL. I have stayed with Canon equipment ever since (except for a decade long foray into medium format, using a Mamiya 645, 1000S). I have owned the F-1, AE-1, A-1, EOS-1n, EOS-3, 10D, 30D, 5D Mk II and currently rely on a 5D MKIII. I still shoot analogue or wet film with the EOS-3 and will continue to do so as long as there is a market for color slides. Early on, I combined my passion for aviation with my passion for photography. Hopefully, the photography Gods be willing, you will view some of my aviation related images on this site. I have authored half dozen aviation related books, a whole bunch of articles and have been published in just about every aviation periodical in the world. Even broke onto the pages of Newsweek during the first Gulf War. Currently retired from public service, I devote way too much time to photography related issues and subjects. I almost always have my camera with me just as I did 50 years ago. I look forward to seeing your images and learning from your experiences.
