I learned photo composition while experimenting with a Kodak Instamatic. Early Polaroid cameras taught me the benefits of instant review and retakes. My 35mm Canons went with me wherever I traveled.
While embarked on a thirty year journey; I took photos in Hawaii, on the Suez Canal, in the Indian Ocean, in Alaska, in Africa, in Australia, and in Europe. Now I am back in the farmlands of Illinois. I still have my Canon A1, but I now use a Nikon DSLR to record the subtle changes in the disappearing rural way of life.
Landscapes, architecture, plant life, and mechanical details form the structure of my work.
I plan to write a book detailing the history of family farms as I knew them as a child. Further plans include recording the evolution of period housing and developing my research into a book.
More immediate plans include: improving my eye for detail, developing better and more unified themes, and thoroughly enjoying the process of recording mundane events and scenes with the aim to reflect them in spectacular ways.
