Melissa Barton

Pacific Northwest native, taking advantage of the great photography opportunities here. Tanulok magyarul; szabad írni nekem magyarul!

My first love was insect photography, but these days I seem to have settled into a 'long exposure' niche: cities at night, waterfalls, starry landscapes. I also enjoy nature and wildlife photography in general. Occasionally I even photograph humans!

All animals are photographed in the wild unless otherwise noted. With insects, spiders, and some small herps I may temporarily catch them to photograph in a studio setting. I use flash as well as natural light for macro work.

I started with a Canon Digital Rebel XTi and the kit lenses plus the Tamron 90mm Macro for several years; in 2014, I upgraded to a Canon 6D, 24-105mm f/4L, 300mm f/4L, and a Yongnuo manual flash (I kept the Tamron). I also use old manual lenses for reverse macro for smaller subjects. And rather belatedly, I finally got a tripod (although I still use a beanbag a lot) and a 50mm f/1.8, which I'm just starting to try out. Sometimes I rent other lenses.

I used to try to be good about including all my settings and other shooting information, but I got lazy. If you're curious how I took any photo, just ask and I'm happy to explain!
