Photography is a passion for me. I don't have any formal qualifications in photography but that doesn't mean I haven't studied it! I've spent more time reading, listening and of course looking at photography than anything else over the last 5 years. That's when I really started to take a serious interest in the art of photography. There have been many advancements in all fields of photography but the digital age has without doubt made it remarkably different. We don't have to wait until the darkroom to see how our image will look, there's no cost associated with pressing the shutter button. However I still believe that it's no easier today than it was 50 or 100 years ago to make a great photograph. All the elements still need to be present; great light, a subject which you connect with, a composition which draws the eye to the place you want the viewer to go to. I'm excited to see what will happen in photography in the years to come and happy to be a part of that journey.

Talking of journeys, recently I was lucky enough to travel around the world, visiting some far off places I'd always dreamed of going to. Combining this experience with photography was simply amazing, it really took my passion for photography to a new level. I was able to capture some really special moments, witness some great landscapes. Sometimes this meant hiking to remote places waiting for the perfect light, other times it was a street scene which went by in the blink of an eye. That's not to say that I only like travel photography or landscape photography. I wouldn't right now be able to settle on any one genre of photography, perhaps I never will. Recently I'm doing more portrait photography, I love photographing people, capturing a special moment. In fact I think capturing the moment, whether it be a great smile, a stunning landscape or a unique scene is what really excites me about photography.
