Nitish Mehta

Nitish Mehta graduated from Cornell University College of Arts and Sciences in 2010 with a BA in Biology with concentration in Animal Sciences. During his undergraduate years, Nitish was a research assistant in the laboratory of Dean Michael Kotlikoff. In the laboratory of Dr. Fumito Ichinose of Massachusetts General Hospital, he studied the contractility of myocytes. He interned at Renaissance Health of Cambridge, MA, assisting in the evaluation of the Accountable Care Organizations. Following graduation, Nitish volunteered for two months in rural health clinic at the Casa Del Sion Children’s Orphanage in Los Robles, Guatemala and was a volunteer on a medical mission to Kumasi, Ghana run by Children’s Hospital of Boston. In addition, he is fluent in Hindi and proficient in Medical Spanish.

Since coming to medical school, Nitish has been a member of Professor Jeanne Lawrence’s laboratory. He was involved in a comprehensive investigation of the expression of the repeat genome; the manuscript of which currently in review for Cell. He was a contributing member of a project run by the New England Center for Stroke Research evaluating stroke risk. Nitish was the first author of a case report submitted to the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery with the Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston. Nitish volunteered under supervision in an extensive free clinic program in Worcester, MA.
