Oliver Wood

I have enjoyed an active interest in photography for more than 30 years, and in many ways I still miss film and the ‘alchemical’ magic of the darkroom process. I am currently a professional Nightlife, Events and Performance photographer employed by a large national (UK) agency, with many other types of work published in local life-style journals from Cheshire Life features to the ‘IN Cheshire’ series, the NME music press and promotions work for the property and advertising markets.

Aside from this I tend to be most interested in all forms of photo documentary and archival work, though I do occasionally attempt to explore Fine Art modes with varying levels of success or affect. For me, the facilitation of basic curiosity and its conflation with a sense of ‘industry’ or purpose is by far the most interesting and rewarding aspect of photography and is a fundamental reason for my ‘need’ to always have a camera to hand. I think all photographers tend to have a very broad range of general interests that can often be engaged through a process of pictorial documentation, photography can be a great adjunct to a love of travel. Creating conversation pieces for our social media discussions has added an interesting new level of purpose to the craft too :)
