Hamad Alhenawi
Hamad Alhenawi
Syrian plastic artist, living in Canada. He studied fine arts at Damascus University, where he obtained a postgraduate degree.
He created his own world which is closer to abstraction infeluenced by the infinitesimal shapes we see in the microscope or the gigantic shapes in the infinite universe to prove that life forms, no matter how different, are one.
His subjects varied between portraiture, landscape and abstraction.
The artist was also affected by the barbarian scenes that he witnessed on a daily basis in his country, where he expressed his feelings in the form of paintings that contain direct human messages, using raw materials such as barbed wire, nails, fabrics, stones and other three-dimensional materials.
It was an attempt to condemn the violence and murder and to express a rejection of the brutality of modern man, the man who developed technically rather than ethically.
Alhenawi has his own philosophy that is reflected in his works, as he considers that man is an integral part of nature and that he must always be in harmony with it.
