Craig Jones

Professional Wildlife photographer, who has been intrested in wildlife since a young boy,and this portfolio is meant to showcase how I as a wildlife photographer see wildlife and capture their fascination and graceful expression.
My journey to become a wildlife photographer was born out of a love and fascination of the natural world from a young age upon receiving my first wildlife book called Animal World. This was an 8th birthday present from my late mum and started my love and fascination for the natural world. I use the medium of photography as a method to capture the beautiful things I witness in nature, placing a frame around something I have seen, letting the image convey the true beauty of that moment in time, that my words could never describe.
My images represent an event that occurred in the wild something that I witnessed and recorded with my camera. My skill lies in interpreting and presenting this in a way that invokes beauty, mood and emotion with each moment captured.
As a responsible photographer of wildlife I always put the welfare of the subjects and care of the environment above any photography I take. I will never use live bait or any bait that will adversely affect the behavior of an animal. I am always honest in declaring the circumstances under which a photograph has been taken by myself. I never use digital manipulation to misrepresent a subject or mislead the viewer.I never shoot captive wildlife.
An Ex Soldier/Sniper expert fieldcraft and tracking skills, who has always found peace within nature.Bringing all my skills together to produce images from nature.I have many years of knowledge of the natural world, which is the strong foundation for Wildlife photography today.I capture wild animals while showing them great respect and care in approaching the subject(s) This allows for better photography, where you can have a window into their lives and learn so much about nature.I am a trained climber/abseiling, trained in Jungle,Mountain,Desert environments with key skills in survival.I use all these skills alongside my photography to capture images from the wild.My images are widely published in BBC Wildlife,Birdwatching Magazine,Practical Photography, Getty Images and many more.
I run Workshops,Photo-Tours,One To Ones all over the UK and abroad, where I give everyone the chance to learn about wildlife photography from myself,by showing you what skills i use and then pass them onto you, while learning of the magic that is the natural world. My advice is always free.
I help with several charities selling my work and giving my time to raise money for Tigers- 21 Century Tiger, Barn Owls- Barn Owl Trust and Sumatran Orangutans- SOS-Sumatran Orangutan Society
