Vangelis Paravas

Vangelis I. Paravas was born in Athens, Greece, in 1976. He is a trained biologist, specialised in ecology and zoology of endangered marine mammals. As a photographer he started his career working with technical nature and wild-life photography (macro-, underwater- and large mammal- photography etc.). However, he is currently interested in wider photographic themes, techniques and styles (street-, travel-, theatrical-, landscape-, architectural-, studio-, and location portrait photography). He has exhibited his work three times in Athens (2006, 2008 and 2010), once in Thessaloniki (2007), and once in Ljubljana, Slovenia (2011), while he has also participated in the joint art exhibition SPOKED!, in the context of the International Bicycle Film Festival at Michalis Cacoyiannis Foundation in Athens in 2010 and 2011, as well as in the International Biennale of Santorini Greece in 2012. His photographs have been published in numerous editorials, magazines and other publications, including scientific journals and table-top books (National Geographic Greek edition, BBC, ΒηMagazino, Καθημερινή, LifO, Athens Voice, Israel Journal of Zoology, The Monachus Guardian, Guide to the Reptiles and Amphibians of Greece etc.). He has travelled to the Caribbean Sea, Hawaii, Brazil, Europe, Africa, Turkey and sailed to countless islands and islets in Greece searching for subjects and moments.
