Patrick McDonald

I am constantly in search of the illusive convergence of light, color and form that will result in a truly unique photograph. Often, the lighting conditions that existed when the image was made were fleeting moments, perhaps lasting only seconds. When someone asks: "Did it really look like this?", I know that I have created a successful image. I have adopted a slow, methodical approach to photography through many years of shooting exclusively with a 4x5 view camera. I now shoot with a D810 and have an all digital workflow. I try to anticipate the light, learn how it moves, and have the patience to wait for it. I hope that my images convey some of the magic and beauty that I have experienced on our amazing planet.

I have worked as a print maker for Hance Partners Professional Darkroom, where I created fine-art color Ilfochrome/Cibachrome prints for some of the top landscape photographers in the country. I also worked as photographer and digital imaging technician at Northern Arizona University for several years. Feel free to email or facebook if you want to chat or go out shooting. patrick.mm7@gmail.com
