Paul Barson

Paul Barson is an award winning, internationally published, self-taught, fine art photographer specializing in unique, dreamlike, magical, poetical and emotive floral portrait artworks. Now living in Michigan, USA, Paul was born and raised in England. It was the natural beauty of the English countryside that inspired Paul and started him on his photographic journey as a young boy with a 110-film camera. Over the years he worked up to a 35mm SLR film camera, where he learnt the technical aspects of photography and then later into the digital realm of DSLR. Paul creates floral artwork unlike any others with his creative use of color, focus and primarily light/shadow combined into a unique style that has taken over a year to develop and that he continues to refine and evolve. Paul uses a modest Canon DSLR and macro lens together with his processing technique to give each subject depth, beauty, soul, life and story all of it’s own. Making the ordinary, extraordinary and unique. Paul’s work has been internationally published, appeared in a number of magazines, received numerous awards and continues to be sold as fine art prints.

For any shots that I post, on a number of different sites, that prove to be popular and well liked, I have decided to make the LR5 presets used to process them available as free downloads.

Download the presets at to use as is or as a starting point to tweak at your leisure.

The presets are 100% free to use as you please but as always, credit is nice :)

Project The Changing - For Autumn

Published October 13th, 2013

Autumn/Fall is upon us and the wonderful colors are starting to come out.

Like most photographers I'm looking for and love taking shots of the fall colors on the trees.

However, this year I thought I would add a little twist to my usual fall shots by taking shots of individual leaves that are changing colors.

Inspiration for the overall look was taken from the great photographer/artist Irene Kung, each leaf being 'exposure shaded' in post processing.

I hope you enjoy....
