This a panorama that was stitched together from two different images. St. Ives is a picturesque small town in beautiful Cornwall. It is said that due to whatever reasons the light and therefore the colors you see there is very special. Hence it has attracted all sorts of artists for decades. On this particular day, however, none of this was apparent. The weather just sucked as you can tell by looking at the clouds. Fortunately, you don't need good weather when you do monochrome photography. It only took me about 5 years to discover that this shot could be turned into something interesting - sort of.
I didn't only convert it to black & white - I also tried to create some kind of vintage look. From what I learned on from my helpful friends over at FlickR, old photos tend to be sharp in the center and lose focus on the edges. I tried to simulate this effect, too. All in all I am quite pleased with the result. What do you think?
