Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Dolomites, Italy. This place needs no introductions. These three peaks (“Tre Thime” in italian local slang, or “Drei Zinnen” in German) rise almost in the very middle of the Dolomites (Italian Alps) and they are a well known turistic destination, here in North Italy. From a mere photographic point of view, it's like taking a picture of Tour Eiffel, Empire State Building or the Half Dome at the Yosemite National Park. The middle peak, called “La Grande” (the big one), is 2.999 meters high. The other two are a little lower. I walk very often around this place, but it's quite hard to find good weather, especially during summertime. A lot of morning harmless clouds always gather during the day and create an almost daily storm, late in the afternoon. I processed this shot in B/W (with my secret special workflow...) to underline the “chiaroscuri” of the rocks and the action of the lower clouds between the three peaks.
