When you are flat on the ground In Alaska photographing some of the largest bears in the world, you realize who is in control. Fortunately the brown (grizzly) bears in Katmai National Park are accepting of humans. And as long as you remain in a group and don't interfere with the bears, they will leave you alone. That doesn't mean they won't give you the occasional glance just to get your heart rate up. These are magnificent and beautiful animals - and they deserve a LOT of respect.
