Grain mill and storm clouds

Before I was a photographer, I was a painter. I was that artsy kid who early on found complete joy in fingerpaints and ending up becoming immersed in watercolors. I was (and am) fortunate to have many great art museums to wander through and learn from.
My portraits are heavily influenced by my absolute love of the Renaissance Masters. My "trippin" flowers are influenced by the Impressionists with a heavy dose from Pop and Abstract Schools. As a boy, I grew up in the Hudson River Valley and now have returned to raise my family there. Ironically, I first learned about the Hudson River School at RISD... Thomas Cole, Asher Durand, Frederic Edwin Church and Albert Bierstadt. They portrayed a realistic yet romanticized view of our world that influences my landscapes (and my worldview)
I see lots of photographers learning by emulating styles of other photographers. This is a great way to learn but just wanted to share my love for the incredibly vast world of art that continually inspires me. Take a walk through a museum and see how it might change how you see our world.
