I found this male American Goldfinch, perched on the stem of a sunfower leaf, peering at me from between another sunflower plant's branches. It was not easy to get a shot at all, with all the sunflowers in the way, with the bird deep in amonst them, and with the birds being so shy and skitish. Move the wrong way, too fast or too suddenly, and they're gone. This is my first year of being able to get any shots of them so I feel really lucky to have gotten the shots I have this summer. I like the way this image is a little different, with the bird's face framed by the foliage.
