From the series "Paddy padi"
A bit of change today with a visit in the paddy fields of Junjungan, in central Bali. It's the season for the rice harvest, during a time where the sun hits and the rain flows. The beams burn the stalks for golden straws, while the drops soak the grains and kill the crop. This period favors laughs amid the hands waiting to grasp the new seeds. You wait indeed many months for these instants. But the fears of a bad year are in all minds, and so flourish spirits and deities.
As a photographer, I feel that one of the main joy is to define the distance between somebody and my camera. Too close and you disturb the emotion for some artificial photos (people reacting and no more acting naturally); too far and you lose the emotion for some superficial results. This distance is unique with each encounter, then it will change with the mental mood during the day. This distance is a miracle. So delicate, personal, fragile. When you find your place, you can just smile. It's like entering in the Matrix: amid the chaos of everything, you experience the harmony. Find the distance and you find your photo.
