Thought I'd give you all a little break from my beloved cats for a while and reintroduce you to some of the young of other species I'm continuing to document the growth and development of up at Khao Kheow Open Zoo.

This subjects here are White-Cheeked Gibbons who I first posted up images of about six months ago when the little boy was about three months old, though I had already begun photographing him within a couple of weeks of his birth.

While I love observing the physical changes that come about with all the youngsters as the grow, this particular little guy has me even more excited than usual, as I knew in advance that while baby White-Cheeked Gibbons come into this world covered with the same cream coat of fur as their mother, the male's fur will begin to turn dark at around nine months of age until it becomes completely black (with the exception of their cheeks!) over the course of a few more months, which is how the male adult White-Cheeked Gibbon appear.
