Setuti, shown here sitting on the hide bed inside a hut, is but one son of the chief of this Maasai village located in Amboseli National Park, Kenya. The Maasai, being polygamists, often take several wives, as in the case of his father who has 19 children by ten wives. Each sibling have their own spouses, from other nearby villages, as well as children of their own bringing the total number of people in the village to 129.

The Maasai have lived like this for centuries and though, not so subtle hints of modernity have begun to creep in to their everyday life, village life is largely as it was since antiquity.
