Jean Day and I headed down to the San Joaquin with intentions of shooting Rainbow falls against a starry nigh time backdrop. Late in the afternoon, conditions were looking good...then a big bank of clouds moved in behind the falls. At that point we were resigned to a sunset shot. As the sun set, clouds to the East blocked out the sun. Now were were worrying we may not even get decent sun set colors. At the last moment, the clouds parted a bit and that beautiful light began to spread through the sky. We waited for about an hour, but the clouds didn't clear behind the falls, so no starry sky this time.
