Over the long Labor Day weekend a couple old climbing buddies and backpacked high into the Alpine Lakes Wilderness for a few nights. As I’ve gotten older, and now that I have a young son, these trips into the mountains have become more and more infrequent (hopefully just temporarily!). But when they do happen I always stumble home full of new energy. It’s truly like reconnecting with a “lost” part of myself whenever I get up high again for a while. The “Blue Moon” was in full effect on the trip. This exposure was made around 90 minutes after sunset, once the rising moon was bright enough to illuminate the entire basin.
