I found this rather unusual tree growing out of a crack in a boulder earlier on in the day and I wanted to capture it under the stars. I did a number
of various compositions and lighting methods on it. As I was about to leave the area I decided to just let my hair down and go crazy with some light painting. This is my favorite shot from the night.
(Edit:- I can assure you all that this is a single 30 second exposure and I have the RAW to prove it. I don't do "composites". I knew my settings were right for the stars, because that's what I know best. My biggest concern was whether or not my light would be too bright and blow out the frame, but I kept it spinning really fast and it wasn't a strong beam of light anyway.)
