We went to visit my aunt for a few days in Napier last weekend, after seeing and reading all about the Canola, I purchased some film for my Zenza Bronica Medium format SLR and charged my batteries on my Canon EOS 50D. I decided to make a photographic weekend of it and shoot Velvia and Digital. I don’t think I realised how beautiful the Overberg region was until driving there. I think I came back with a total amount of 260 RAW files and two films completely full. Wherever you drive, you see golden light from the sun, hills, grass, canola, mountains and clouds. It is one of the most beautiful sceneries in South Africa in my opinion. I did some trespassing on this shot however. I jumped over a fence and walked deeper into the farm and waited for the right moment to shoot. I liked all of those lines, textures, colour, patterns and composition that I was getting in this particular image. This was one great experience to be here, to shoot this and also quite a adrenaline rush to jump over a strangers fence to capture natures true beauty.
