At the south end of the Vatnajokull glacier, the lake at Jolulsarlon is filled with icebergs which have calved off the glacier to float into the water and eventually melt. The lake has doubled in size over the last 25 years as a result.

We turned up around 7pm in the pissing rain, had a quick look then drove o to our guesthouse for the evening. Returning around sunrise the weather had gone from rainy and still to dry but some of the most extreme winds I've ever experienced. Trying to stand in unsheltered areas was almost impossible as a result. I couldn't get the still serene water with reflections that I would have liked, but still a beautiful place to visit.
