Mt. Lanin is a 3776m high cone-shaped volcano on the border of Argentina and Chile. It's located in two National Parks: Lanin in Argentina and Villarrica in Chile. It's one of the most popular mountaineering destinations in Patagonia. It's supposed to be extinct. The date of its last eruption is unknown, though it's estimated to have occurred within the last 10000 years. Hence the name "Lanin" which means "dead rock" in Mapudungun (Mapuche language).
