The Moenave sandstone formation of the Colorado Plateau is a relatively soft sandstone layer that lends itself well to being intrically sculpted by eons of wind driven sandstorms and sporadic deluges of rain and snow.
Layers of gypsum from arid periods of time lend this particular formation some beautiful white striations that interlace with the red/purple sandstone.
