Space Shuttle Endeavor at Coit Tower

Space Shuttle Endeavor makes its final voyage but this time, she's on vacation as she passes a number of famous California landmarks including San Francisco's world famous Coit Tower. The colorful houses on the hills of San Francisco just add to the spectacle of the event that stopped the usually busy small city of San Francisco this Friday, 21st of September. This would be the last flight of the famous ship that flew 25 missions into space and she went out in style and celebration.

Photographers and sight seers around the bay gathered at all the vantage points to take in the all too short flyby of the Shuttle perched atop the custom 747 and escorted by an F-15 fighter jet. The crowd was delighted by the sight but quickly returned to their normal routine as the famous ship headed south towards Los Angeles to settle into retirement.

Treasure Island turned out to be a real boon for getting the shuttle with a number of San Francisco's landmarks. The Space Shuttle flew around the island and passed over the city twice and nearly directly overhead. No one on the island was disappointed.
