In a small mountain village 200 km north of Mexico City called Pantoja live the last traditional potters of Mexico: the "alfareros". They cast the clay without mold or motorized wheel, by tapping it with endless slow movements of the hands.

The one I met was Esteban Valdez, an 87 years old community elder who worked in a room the size of a car. I asked him to show me his trade by crafting a bowl for me and shot a few photographs with the little light and space available. At some point, while he was reaching for more clay on his side, he rest his hand on his knee and I found this infinitely touching...
