Symphony in Stone

It has been a whirlwind spring/summer! Many weeks all over Oregon leading workshops, then my "4 Bends in 4 Days" in and around Page Arizona (including slot canyons and various Grand Canyon locations) then back to Oregon for more and then the last couple weeks in Glacier National Park, Mt Hood Wilderness and now thankfully home for a little rest before fall kicks in at the Columbia River Gorge.

I have been to antelope too many times to count without producing anything that I have been happy with. Here my client and I worked lower Antelope early before people came into the canyon and we decided to exclusively use the Canon 14mm L2. It is my prefered lens in the slots. I love how it captures things unlike we see them and I love how sharp the lens is, helping to make those big daddy enlargements.

Canon 5D Mark2
Canon 14mmL2
7 shots for dynamic range
F 5.6 (sharpest f-stop for the lens)
100 ISO

Post production was mainly done in ACR 7.1 and then brought into PS CS6 for manual blending using various techniques but relying heavily on the "Blend If" sliders (Layer / Layer Style / Blending Options / Blend If) and then one layer was done in HDR Pro (CS6) and was minimally drawn from using a variety of masking techniques - but again relying on my favorite the "Blend If" sliders.

I hope you had a great summer and have a fantastic upcoming fall. As one of my favorite musicians Rich Mullins said: "There's so much beauty around us, for just two eyes to see, and everywhere I go, I'm looking!"
