The Common Potoo (Nyctibius griseus) is regularly seen in warm nights at the Pantanal. During the day they hide motionless in perfect camouflage, pretending to be a broken tree branch. At night they hunt from perches in open areas, capturing moths in flight. Their song is unforgetable, a haunting and melodius pooooooooh-pooh-pooh-pooh... I used an off-camera flash on this photo to avoid completely blowing out its big eye.
