Last weekend, I bought two faceless masks from a Halloween store and woke my sister up at 8AM the next morning to shoot. Even though she was reluctant to be up so early, we went out and shot at the art park right in Cazenovia with my 4x5 film camera. I worked with what I had: the environment, Melanie, the two masks, and carefully composed each frame to perfection. Melanie was a big help throughout the entire thing and was an excellent model who took direction well.
After developing the film and scanning it onto the computer, I realized that this isn’t just a photo series of an impromptu photo shoot, but a start to a project based on the relationship between my sister and I. For once, the concept came after the shoot.
