Long since headline news of Occupy Wall Street or Occupy Oakland / S. F. / Insert Big City Name Here, there are still a few that Occupy Walnut Creek, CA. Walnut Creek is a city of high end retail stores, exotic cars, a rich retirement community and one of the highest grossing Main Streets in America.

Without the tents and popup villages of the larger occupy movements, there are a regular few that spend a couple of hours one night a week every few weeks apart.

In general I would find it hard to believe that any great portion of the 99% is near the poverty line in the US. In fact I believe a great portion of those in the 99% are in the top 3% in the world. If you own your own home and have at least a minimum wage job, you are in the top 3% of wealth in the world*, not the bottom 99%.

Yes, there are changes needed, but unless you are struggling to keep your home or feed your family, I do not feel that holding a sign is the best way to bring change.
