The African Wild Dog is the 2nd most endangered carnivore on the continent. Also known as the painted wolves of Africa, this species carries out a highly nomadic existance in closely knit working units or packs. I shot this frame backlit and wanted to illustrate my subject carrying out a wild and free existance. But, I also wanted to capture the essence of the species i.e. in a pack and on the move! Shot in the early morning using a Nikon D3 and Nikkor 200-400mm lens at 400mm, 1/8000 and ISO 640 with -0.3 exposure compensation. Hand held from vehicle.
