This species of hummingbird is very small weighing about 3 g. and is found in Costa Rica, Panama, and Ecuador. They prefer the middle elevations from around 700 to 1400 m. but will go lower during the rainy season if need be. They love the forest canopy and feed off of small flowers and tiny insects.
All hummingbirds lay two white eggs and are incubated by the female alone.
They ae mainly green in color with a white rump band and the male has a blackish lower rump and tail.
For the most part they are very silent little birds.
