The Sumatran Orangutans are in a fight for their lives. This image, when I saw this baby Orangutan playing with her mum sung out that word to me. Her mum is called Sepi and again she was rescued from a vile world you couldn’t even imagine, many years ago, given a second chance in life. The baby is called Casa and is a year and a half in age.
Born in the rainforests of Gunung Leuser National park, she represents the future. Watching her cling to her mum here, acting shy just like a human baby. She saw me and tried to hide behind her mum’s fur.
I’m editing my images for my talks and presentations and its like reliving this place all over again. The presentations will be special to me as these animals have had a profound effect on me with their kind mannerisms and behaviours.
I feel blessed that I was able to capture them with my camera, this has been the most wonderful experience I’ve ever had as a person as well as a wildlife photographer. The slideshows will be dedicated to those amazing encounters I had and for the Orangutans I left behind.
