Spent this last weekend driving through eastern Oregon with Alex Noriega--- a night in the Painted Hills then on to the Alvord Desert where we met Paul Bowman. The Alvord is probably the most remarkable natural area in a state known for its damp and lush climate. In fact, the Alvord reminds me in many ways of a miniature version of Death Valley, absent dunes. Another great reason to shoot at the Alvord is because its remoteness places it far from sources of light pollution, making it one of the darkest corners of the country. I took full advantage of this fact while capturing the starkness of the landscape under a sky full of stars.
